This Credentials Evaluation is used primarily for the individual who has never been licensed in the U.S. This certificate verifies compliance with an educational credentials review, English language proficiency requirements and verification of ability to practice in the country of education. This comprehensive evaluation may be useful in meeting the requirement for visa purposes, licensure and/or academic admissions.
The FCCPT Comprehensive Credentials Evaluation (Type I Certificate) is a comprehensive evaluation of your credentials based on the approved guidelines of the FCCPT. These guidelines meet or exceed the minimum credential requirements for licensure in most U.S. jurisdictions and for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The Type I Certificate can be used for both immigration and licensing.
Following are the steps to start the H-1B process for Physical Therapists:
The FSBPT develops and administers the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. All 50 states and 3 additional jurisdictions use the NPTE as one factor in the licensure or certification of physical therapist and physical therapist assistants.
Each licensing authority has established its own criteria for eligibility to sit for the PT and PTA examinations. You should review the materials distributed by the licensing authority, to which you intend to apply for licensure or certification, to determine if you have met that authority's eligibility requirements.
A current examination may only be used for administration to bona fide candidates for initial licensure, re-licensure, or to candidates who are not licensed in a jurisdiction and do not have a qualifying exam score for that jurisdiction.
The computer-based PT and PTA examinations are administered by FSBPT through Prometric.
FSBPT scores your examination and then transmits the score to the licensing authority.
For more information about the NPTE exam, please visit the NPTE section of the FSBPT Website.
